“Building solutions is different to solving problems, a preferred future is different to an unsatisfactory present.”

Ko Paul Hanton tōku ingoa.

As a Solution Focused (SF) practitioner, I believe that everyone I see is uniquely competent and has the capability to work out their own solutions. I aim to have helpful conversations with people to that end, and I do not assess, diagnose or pathologise people, I am more interested in what is working, what has worked, and what might work in the future. This ‘philosophy’ is equally applicable to; individuals, groups, customers of training & consultancy and supervision.

I also recognise that there are social injustices in this world. As a white middle aged man I recognise my own white privilege and my best hopes are not to add to social injustice.

I hope you will find time to browse the pages and look at what I am able to offer to both individuals and organisations.

“Paul has been a leading figure in the development of solution focused brief therapy in the UK… He will be a major asset to the growing group of solution focused practitioners in New Zealand.”
